Pre-Fair Planning

It is imperative that in planning for a fair or show all personnel involved be prepared as the unexpected can happen. 

By planning in advance, disasters can be mitigated, and people are able to respond quickly and more efficiently with a positive outcome in a potential disaster situation.

What could happen at the fair?

  • The weather does not cooperate as there are thunderstorms throughout the week and the fairgrounds are flooded. 
What personnel need to be contacted?
  • An animal has signs of excessive drooling and mouth lesions.
What procedures need to be address with this animal?
  • An animal is missing its original weigh-in tag.
What are the rules for animal identification?
  • An animal has received medication prior to slaughter.
